New Zealand rider Samantha Lissington’s journey to Burghley started when she swapped a childhood sailing around the South Pacific for a pony. The 28-year-old Kiwi made her debut at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials aboard Ricker Ridge Rui, who she bought unseen with the intention of selling on. Now the pair have taken on one of the biggest events in the world and can’t wait to see what the future holds for them in the sport in the UK. “I only let myself get properly excited on the Monda...

Athlete Update- Jordan Woodall

Golfer and 2018 Perago Trust grant recipient Jordan Woodall provides an update into his training and competition achievements. My start to the 2019 season was definitely a slow one. I started the year with a missed cut at the Australian Amateur Championship held in Melbourne, the event that I was a semi finalist at the year before (2018). Followed up by a trip to Sydney to play in the Avondale Am where I finished tied 32nd position. I don’t think I have ever learnt so much about my g...

Athlete Update- Hannah Blackwood, September 2018

Dear Perago Trust, I have just returned home from my pinnacle event, competing in the 2018 FINA World Junior Open Water 10km Championships in Eilat, Israel. As New Zealand’s sole qualifier and representative, my coach Carl Gordon and I left Auckland on 31 August. It took 48 hours for us to get to Israel and when we did, it was a bit of a shock to the system after leaving 5 degree Cambridge to the 40 degree desert weather. The race location of Eilat was extremely beautiful. Israel can tend...

Greenough scores Australian title

One Cambridge’s top BMX riders has returned home from the Australian National Series with good reason to smile. Bennett Greenough competed in three rounds of the event with enough race wins to claim the overall title in his age group. Unfortunately, due to the Cambridge BMX track not being allowed to use their start gate during winter, Greenough wasn't quite able to have the same preparation leading up to the last round as his Australian counterparts, but he didn’t let it dampen his spirits....

Athlete Update- Bennett Greenough

Hi Perago, The 2018 BMX World Champs last month had lots of ups and downs for me this year. My qualifiers went really well, picking up a 1st, 3rd, then another 1st, followed by another first in my 1/8 final. In my quarter final, an incident involving another rider caused me to crash on the ramp, ending my day short. I felt like my standard of riding was up there with all the top riders which just adds to the frustration, as well as giving me motivation to train even harder in the next year, to tr...

Athlete Update- Ellesse Andrews 03.06.18

Commonwealth Games | Gold Coast 2018 Being selected into the 2018 Commonwealth Games team was an achievement in itself for me. A huge milestone that I had no idea was even on the cards until about 8 weeks out from race day. Preparation for the event went reasonably smoothly, and I was extremely lucky to have such a welcoming team of riders and support staff to help me transition into this environment. As my key event was the Individual Pursuit, I was able to solely focus and make sure my process...
