Hi Perago,
I would like to thank you very much for your support, it enabled me to have a great training and coaching structure for my build up to the BMX World Champs and of course assisted in the expense of competing and travelling to the event in Rockhill SC, USA.
I had an awesome time at the BMX world champs. It was definitely the hardest world champs in terms of number of competitors and being in the USA attracted all of the best riders. With over 150 riders in my age group, every race was going to be tough. I was really pleased with my riding, I felt fast and well prepared, my gate was good and I felt smooth round the track despite the hot conditions. Moto's went well, coming away with 3 wins. This was the confidence booster that I needed to do well thought the remainder of the day. I dominated my 1/16th, 1/8th and quarter
finals coming away with another 3 convincing wins. In the semi final one tiny error down the third straight put me out of qualifying position in the last corner. This just shows the brutality of the racing and although I didn't get the result that I was looking for I'm still really happy with the way I rode and conducted myself through the competition. My coach Matt Cameron had a huge influence on my build up, particularly in the gym and out on the track. He has been a massive help and I hope to keep working with him.
Since Worlds I’ve enjoyed having a break from BMX and doing lots of Mt biking with my mates. Now I am looking forward to the start of the NZ race season and trials for the NZ Senior Development Squad. In November I am planning to race in the USA again for the biggest meet on their race calendar, the USA BMX Grand Nationals. Thanks again for you support.
